September Report The National Leadership Conference was held in Anaheim California this year. Nothing but positive stories came out of the mouths of South Dakota FBLA members. Sun burnt and jet lagged kids climbed off the bus and were greeted by the blood thirsty `skeeters` when they finally arrived to their South Dakota home. All the state officers attended CTSO training in Pierre on July 23rd. As your State Historian, I have completed the layout for the state scrapbook. I am excited to start documenting the pictures. I do know that this year's state scrapbook will be simply the best!
October Report
The South Dakota State Fall Leadership Conference was help in Sioux Falls on September 30th. Focus Training was our facilitator for the event. We learned many new energizers and hopefully the member of South Dakota FBLA got to know their state officers a little better. One effective way on getting to know people's names is kung fu introductions. We learned how to do kung fu introductions from our focus trainers. Another Attention-Getter was the Tarzan exercise. All in all this year's Fall Leadership conference was a success. The state scrapbook and slideshow is falling into place. I will be showcasing each local chapter in the scrapbook and in the slideshow. To make it a success I will be needing the cooperation of the historians and other members of the local chapters. I will be sending out emails asking for pictures and reminding each chapter to be taking an exuberant amount of pictures.
November Report The month of October was not quite as busy as August and September. Contact information for each school has been confirmed, and I will begin sending out emails to all the local historians and their advisors. And of course, make sure that you are constantly snapping pictures. It can be at your chapter meetings, fundraisers, or group photos. The scrapbook has been started and will continue to make progress throughout November. December Report In the month of November the state officers made preparations for legislative shadow days. We each had to pick a state legislator and write to them explaining why we picked them as our mentor for the day. I also, of course, worked on the state scrapbook. Other than that, the month of November was another non-eventful month. I also am working on feature pages for the state officers in the scrapbook. I emailed them to get some information about them. Christmas is quickly approaching! I wish all of you a very Merry Christmas! January Report
Wow! The month of December was a great month to get things done. I recently sent out emails to all of the local chapter historians to get going on pictures. Legislative shadow days is approaching quickly. I have chosen Senator Bob Gray, the senate Pro tempore, to job shadow for that day. All of the officers and myself are getting excited as the Spring Leadership Conference date approaches. I wish you all a happy new year!
